The cost of renting in Malaga has been growing exponentially for years, thanks to foreign investment and the honour of being the Spanish province with the most hours of sunshine per year.
Most of the rentals are tourists, for seasons or annual contracts. The most expensive area is Marbella with a monthly cost of more than €12/m². Torremolinos follows with more than €10/m². The cheapest Vélez-Málaga area with more than €3/m². On the other hand, rustic properties for rent are around 1,000 euros per month in areas such as Las Monjas. The villas and chalets for rent in Marbella are more than 15,000 euros per month and the houses can reach more than 5,000 euros. In Vélez-Málaga and Arroyo de la Miel the price drops to 1,500 in independent villas of more than 200 square meters.
